Who We Are
To improve the lives of unwanted and abandoned animals by providing a safe and humane shelter environment; promoting successful adoptions and pet owner education; and reducing the animal population of Dearborn County by sponsoring spay/neuter programs.
To ensure that 100% of adoptable animals are given an opportunity for a forever, loving home. Our long-term goal is to help reduce pet over-population in Dearborn County and to educate and assist the public on humane, responsible animal care.
PAWS was chartered as a non-profit organization in the state of Indiana in April 2001, and received tax exempt status under Section 501(c)3 of the IRS code in February 2002.
Known simply as PAWS, the Partners for Animal Welfare Society of Dearborn County is an all-volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of unwanted and abandoned dogs and cats in our county.
The animal shelter, called “PAWS of Dearborn County Humane Center,” is owned and operated by PAWS It is located in Lawrenceburg on Charles A. Liddle Drive. Under its agreement with the county, PAWS is responsible for animal care, while the county remains responsible for animal control.
PAWS has been managed by a Board of Directors since inception. This Board oversees all policies for the Humane Center cooperatively with the center director to develop and maintain optimum health and well-being of the animals and promote high adoption rates.

He would prefer to be your one and only. A game of tug of war would be a fun game to play with him. Chip is house trained and ready to find his furever family.
4 1/2 years old, Domestic Short Hair White and Black, female spayed. Cotton enjoys laying in the sun in one of our window beds. She loves to be scratched behind her ears. This older girl would do better in a quiet home. Give us a call, if you are interested in giving this girl a loving home!
1 1/2 years old, Domestic Short Hair Brown Tabby with White, male neutered. He loves to head butt you while you are cleaning. This sweet boy loves attention and enjoys play with other cats. If you have a spot in your home for this loving cat, come down and check him out!
